Known software conflicts
Some aftermarket software products can cause BBEdit to crash or behave unexpectedly.
The following are known culprits:
- FinderPop (may be fixed in recent versions; look here for updates and help)
- Default Folder X (version 4.4.3 and older; update to 4.4.4 or later to resolve)
- SCPlugin (remove
/Library/Contextual Menu Items/SCFinderPlugin.pluginto resolve)
- Interarchy contextual menu plug-in (version 9.0.x; upgrade to a newer version, or remove
/Library/Contextual Menu Items/InterarchyCMPlugin.pluginto resolve)
- MarsThemes (may be fixed in recent versions)
Note: In some cases, the offending items may be in
~/Library in addition to, or instead of,

Bare Bones' crash reporter works, but if you need direct assistance, please open a support case instead by writing to Tech Support, describing the problem, and attaching the most recent crash log or two (the log files can be found in
(Note that using Apple's crash reporter sends the crash logs directly to Apple, and Bare Bones won't see them or be able to contact you.)
