Known software conflicts
From BBEditExtras
Some aftermarket software products can cause BBEdit to crash or behave unexpectedly.
The following are known culprits:
- FinderPop (may be fixed in recent versions; look here for updates and help)
- Default Folder X (version 4.4.3 and older; update to 4.4.4 or later to resolve)
- SCPlugin (remove
/Library/Contextual Menu Items/SCFinderPlugin.pluginto resolve) - Interarchy contextual menu plug-in (version 9.0.x; upgrade to a newer version, or remove
/Library/Contextual Menu Items/InterarchyCMPlugin.pluginto resolve) - MarsThemes (may be fixed in recent versions)
Note: In some cases, the offending items may be in ~/Library in addition to, or instead of, /Library.
Thomas Tempelmann has written a great article about "How To Identify and Disable software extensions on OS X that cause other Apps to crash".
Bare Bones' crash reporter works, but if you need direct assistance, please open a support case instead by writing to Tech Support, describing the problem, and attaching the most recent crash log or two (the log files can be found in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/).
(Note that using Apple's crash reporter sends the crash logs directly to Apple, and Bare Bones won't see them or be able to contact you.)
